MANAGING MILLENNIALS & GEN Z
UNDERSTANDING THE NEEDS OF AN INTERGENERATIONAL WORKFORCE
HOW BIRDSOUP CAN BREED SUPPORT AND UNDERSTANDING
WHY THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE YOURS, NOT THEIRS.
We don’t like the term Millennials, even less “Snowflakes” or describing young people as “entitled” “lazy” and “unfocused”. We recognise that there is a perceived problem with managing Millennials and now, Gen Z. Our view is that the disconnect between the individuals and their organisations is all about communication; effectively both sides want the same thing but they describe the outcomes very differently.
Organisations tell us that Millennials are difficult to manage, have too many opinions, a sense of entitlement and unrealistic expectations.
However, our own research and experience shows that millennials are prepared to work hard, are enthusiastic and realistic about their job roles, and career progression but they want autonomy and trust, purpose, meaning and recognition. They want support, and cited a lack of formal training, coaching and mentoring as the biggest barriers to succeeding.
HOW BIRDSOUP HELPS YOU MOTIVATE YOUR MILLENNIAL + GEN Z EMPLOYEES.
We work with organisations to help get the best from their millennial employees. It’s worth remembering that millennials and gen z now make up the majority of the global workforce. They are, most likely, your biggest pool of untapped talent, you just need to work out how to nurture them and guide their potential. Often the challenge for businesses is around translating values, culture and objectives into language and behaviour that resonates for for everyone.
We help you create an army of motivated talent with strong values that your company can benefit from aligning itself with.
A lack of confidence or overconfidence can be detrimental at the start of a career. This brief workshop helps participants understand where they are and what they can do to manage this better.
